This Flick In Brief

Although not in the same league as Goodfellas, The Godfather, or other classic mafia films, A Bronx Tale holds it own as a decent slice of New York gangster entertainment.

Most of the film's attention is focused on young Calogero, played by Lillo Brancato of The Sopranos and I-shoot-cops-during-botched-robberies fame. With his bus driving father (Robert De Niro) and the local mobster (Chazz Palminteri) as Calogero's two main role models, the film brilliantly contrasts the admirable qualities of each man, while capturing Calogero's internal battle over which of their examples he'll choose to follow in his own life.
