This Flick In Brief

Director Ridley Scott carries on his tradition of excellent filmmaking by covering the little-publicized 'Battle of Mogadishu', fought in 1993 between U.S. soldiers and basically the entire Somalian city. Scott takes a unique approach to Black Hawk Down with not only his use of cinematography, but also with his depiction of the battle itself. The film doesn't preach, politic, point fingers, or proselytize, it simply tells its story from the perspective of the American soldiers who were in an insane situation and fighting to stay alive.

Easily one of the top 10 war movies ever made, Black Hawk Down doesn't really offer anything more than just war itself. But Scott's shooting style, excellent cast, and exhilaratingly realistic battle scenes keep the viewer locked in from beginning to end.
