This Flick In Brief
Set in the claustrophobic confines of a Nazi submarine, Das Boot (in english The Boat) slowly lures the viewer into a harrowing depiction of the often-forgotten undersea battles of World War II.
Although the film is subtitled, (which some people don't care for), the German-speaking cast adds immensely to the immersion factor of the film, and is worth watching. For those that don't care for subtitles, there's also an English-dubbed version as well, which is possibly the best language overdub of any film ever made.
Gritty, depressing, dispiriting, and horrific, Das Boot is a masterpiece war film that will stick with the viewer long after the credits roll.
