This Flick In Brief

Another Will Smith powerhouse movie that, for all its high-tech gadgets and overall technical premise, isn't science fiction but more 'technical reality'.

Robert Dean (Smith), a technologically-incompetent D.C. lawyer, by sheer accident finds himself in the middle of an all-out investigation by the federal government, an investigation that isn't exactly legitimate or scrupulous. With his life on the line and being pursued by homing devices, satellites, cameras, bugs, and scanners, Dean enlists the help of a professional eavesdropper, Ed Brill (Gene Hackman).

While not an acting stretch for either Smith or Hackman, both easily pull off their odd couple roles, solidly carrying the film though a myriad of pursuits, technical wizardry, and the age-old question - what limits are there for a citizen's right to privacy?
