No true science fiction fan can resist the premise - a lone, homesick marshal stuck with 'banishment duty' on a remote outpost on one of Jupiter's moons, left to his own devices as he battles corruption, smuggling, and the indifference of the people he's trying to protect.
Although somewhat dated in special effects with 80s-era monochrome monitors and the like, Outland still carries its own as a science fiction must-see. The film shows clever imagination with a glimpse of Wii/Playstation/XBox entertainment twenty-five years before their invention, as well as teleconferencing and email. Sean Connery makes a rare science fiction appearance as the film's central character as well.
