This Flick In Brief

An incredibly ambitious movie, Quest For Fire almost handicaps itself by removing all the elements expected in a movie - special effects, plot twists, even dialog. Yet it's still a compelling film that could even double as a documentary on prehistoric mankind.

Set in the pre-Ice Age world 80,000 years ago, Quest For Fire follows the path of three primitive tribesmen as they search for prehistoric man's most elusive tool, fire.

Since the film is devoid of most modern ingredients, (where its dialog consists of grunts, and wardrobe consists of animal hide), the viewer should have at least a minimal appreciation for history and anthropology to get the full effect of the film. Anyone interested in the Discovery or History channel's documentaries should find themselves right at home.
