This Flick In Brief
Director David Fincher (Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) made his mark with this 1995 offering, delivering a solid and clever tale of murder, morality, and madness.
Se7en centers on two big-city detectives (Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman) as they track an elusive and clever serial killer (Kevin Spacey), who at first seems to kill indiscriminately, but is then revealed to have clear and precise motives that are truly unnerving for both the grizzled detectives and the viewer as well.
While top-heavy with big name actors, none of the cast distracts from the content of the film, and Se7en is actually quite the opposite of what one would expect from such a hype-heavy cast. All actors deliver subdued and natural performances that add greatly to the suspenseful and grisly nature of the film, and along with Fincher's brilliant direction, the end result is a film the audience won't soon forget.
