This Flick In Brief

An adaptation of James Fenimore Cooper's famous novel of the same name, The Last Of The Mohicans blends realism with deft Hollywood production values to great effect. Director Michael Mann goes off the path of his usual modern subjects (Thief, Heat, Public Enemies, Ali) to the late 1700s, covering a fictional story set during the French and Indian war.

Complete with forts, armies, stiff British 'redcoats', frontiersmen, Indian settlements, love, and adventure, with a story that weaves through forests, over mountains, across rivers, and through waterfalls, Mann's smooth direction delivers solid cinematography and convincing performances from the entire cast.
