This Series In Brief
Although the title may appear somewhat corny, NatGeo director Jeff Morales and his crew delivers on the title's promise, covering the survival of various predatory animals in South Africa's Mala Mala game reserve.
Working from a military perspective, Predators At War classifies the various animals and their tactics in modern military terms. With this appealing and surprisingly accurate premise, it also boasts some of the most incredible camerawork ever achieved in the wild, following hungry cats through pitch black darkness, up trees, across drought-effected wastelands, and even inches away from them feeding on a kill. Rounding out this excellent documentary are well-placed computer graphics, showing the evolutionary development of the various predator species as they've adapted to become streamlined and terrifying killing machines.
Part of NatGeo's Nature’s Nightmares series, Predators At War is the pick of the bunch, bringing the subject matter so up-close and personal as to be downright unnerving most of the time.
