The Nitty-Gritty:

Q: Facebook photo albums are like... confusing and stuff... I can't read the official Facebook help section on my own, can you hold my hand through it?

A: Yeah, I guess... follow the instructions below, they're as basic and detailed as possible!

How To Do It:

Before we get started, here's a few things that will help:

  • Obviously you need a Facebook account ;)
  • It helps to have all the pictures that you want to put into a Facebook album together in the same folder on your computer. This way you can select all the images at once to upload, rather than hunting them down one-by-one
  • Images taken with digital cameras are usually very large, as they are meant to be printed. Depending on the type of camera, some of these images may be larger than Facebook's size limit, which is 5megs. If your images are too large to upload, resize them first.

Saving an image:

  • Right-click the image and click 'Save Picture As...'
  • Pick a place to save the image, and remember where you saved it to

To navigate to your photos section:

  • Go to Facebook and click the 'Profile' tab on the upper right
  • Then click 'Photos' tab, which is just about in the center, towards the top (Above where it says 'What's on your mind...')

To create a new photo album:

  • Follow the same instructions mentioned above in 'To navigate to your photos section'
  • Click the 'Create Photo Album' button
  • Put a name & info in the appropriate boxes
  • Click 'Create Album' button
  • Click 'Select Photos' buton
  • In the window that pops up, navigate to the folder with the images you want to upload
  • Select 1 photo by clicking on it and then clicking the 'Open' button, or select multiple files by holding down CTRL as you click on images
  • Once your photos are selected, click the 'Upload Photos' button to dump them to Facebook
  • Once the images upload, enter descriptions for the images (if desired)
  • To choose which picture becomes the album's cover, check off one of the boxes that says 'This is the album cover'
  • When you're done, click 'Save Changes'

To add an image to an existing photo album:

  • Follow the same instructions mentioned above in 'To navigate to your photos section'
  • Click on the photo album you want to add to
  • Click 'Add More Photos'
  • Click 'Select Photos' buton
  • In the window that pops up, navigate to the folder with the images you want to upload
  • Select 1 photo by clicking on it and then clicking the 'Open' button, or select multiple files by holding down CTRL as you click on images
  • Once your photos are selected, click the 'Upload Photos' button to dump them to Facebook
  • Once the images upload, enter descriptions for the images (if desired)
  • When you're done, click 'Save Changes'

To delete an image in an existing album:

  • Follow the same instructions mentioned above in "To navigate to your photos section"
  • Click the 'Edit Photos' link
  • In the image list, check off the "Delete this photo" box under the image(s) you want to delete
  • Click 'Save Changes'

To move an image from an existing album to an existing album:

  • Follow the same instructions mentioned above in 'To navigate to your photos section'
  • Click the 'Edit Photos' link
  • In the image list, hit the drop-down menu and select the album you want to move to
  • You can move multiple files at once, to multiple albums as well
  • When you're done, click 'Save Changes'

To move an image from an existing album to a new album:

  • First create the new album by following the instructions mentioned earlier in 'To create a new photo album'
  • Then move the image via the instructions mentioned above in 'To move an image from an existing album to an existing album'

To delete an entire album:

  • Follow the same instructions mentioned above in 'To navigate to your photos section'
  • Click on the album you want to delete
  • Click 'Edit Photos'
  • Click the 'Delete' tab
  • Click the 'Delete' confirmation

That's all folks!
